Version 2.0

1. Major features added in version 2.0

  • Test Request Form (TRF) and Change / Enhancement Request form (CRF) components.
  • "Navigator" window includes hierarchical display of modules and items for easy navigation.
  • Ability to sort tables by column.
  • Added "Help Tips" icon on "Query" page.
  • Added "Quick Pick" (a list of appropriate and recently used values next to the field. For example [2.0.00|2.0.01] next to "SW Version" field.)
  • Enhanced file upload/download mechanism.
  • User selectable GUI style and buttons. (2 styles currently provided)
  • Ability to query history.
  • New and modified (by others) bug records appear in bold until Assignee access (reads) these items. This helps identify new and modified issues.
  • On the "Home" pages, the last accessed record appears on white background. This "cursor" helps quickly identify the last position when user returns to this page.
  • "Print" buttons and print support added where it is appropriate to print page content.

2. Features removed from version 2.0

  • User ability to define custom layouts for "Home" page and "Query Results".
    This feature caused problems and was disabled until a better solution can be found. There were situations when user could define a layout incompatible with the query that is used to select data and end up missing some important columns or records. Another issue with "Home" page was that some users tend to display either too few columns or as many columns as possible including long text descriptions and bug details (so they wouldn't have to click elsewhere to view it). Oh well, reading a continuous stream of data is good for your MPEG movies, but you just don't do it with you email.
    Although there is no interface to add new layout, "Home" page and "Query Results" are still based on layouts defined in the database. And if necessary, a relatively experienced administrator can manually add new or modify existing record in "SavedReports" table.

3. Known Issues

  • "Home" page may not appear as intended with misplaced graphics and backgrounds.
    This occasionally happens on the first time you access this page when browser has no corresponding icons and images in its cache.
    Cause: Bug in Internet Explorer.
    Solution: Click Refresh button.

  • "Toolbar" does not display all expected buttons (or displays unexpected buttons) when you switch between different user accounts on the same computer.
    Cause: The "Toolbar" page has not expired from browser cache and you are actually viewing cached version created for previous user. Most common scenario is when you logoff your regular user account and immediately login as Administrator the "Admin" button is missing. And vice versa, logoff as Administrator and login as regular user the "Admin" button is present. This should not be an issue if more than an hour passed since your logoff.
    Solution: Refresh either only toolbar frame or entire window. This page must be cached for proper operation.
